During the last week of July 2021, for the second time, SENATOR INTERNATIONAL, member of Airfreight Logistics Network for Africa representing South Africa, had two “SAB” (Senator Africa Bridge) flights simultaneously on the tarmac at OR Tambo International Airport. It was a cold and overcast day in Joburg, but was also a historic moment for SENATOR INTERNATIONAL.
This unprecedented move was SENATOR‘s response to unique airfreight demands, largely fuelled by capacity requirements of its major automotive customer. To service their needs, SENATOR speeds up the rotation of its flights to increase the number of flights into the country. Successful rescheduling at its hub in Hahn enabled SENATOR to speed up the round-trip rotation, adding an extra flight to its schedule.
Through this transformation, SENATOR accommodated an additional 90 tons of cargo. As with all “SAB“ (Senator Africa Bridge) flights using SENATOR-controlled Boeing 747-400 Freighters, they were able to supplement the normal tri-weekly service, resulting in 4 “SAB“ flights during the week.
