ASTRAL AERIAL AND WINGCOPTER’S STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR LAST-MILE DELIVERY
Geoffrey Nyaga, chief operations officer of Astral Aerial announced it during a webinar organised by the Logistics Update Africa on ‘Drones for improving healthcare supply chains and creating drone corridors for Africa‘ to delve deep into insights on how unmanned aerial vehicles and drones plan to open new doors at places where even there is no basic transport infrastructure.
The Covid-19 pandemic has demonstrated even more the potential of drones and UAVs for Africa. Since the pandemic that largely restricted mobility and human contact drone operators in some parts of Africa have significantly enhanced its operations to deliver Covid-19 related critical healthcare supplies.
How post-Covid-19 era will serve as an opportunity for the drone operators and how they can build a mature and scalable drone logistics infrastructure in Africa for healthcare, humanitarian and e-commerce sectors.

The last mile delivery of health and humanitarian cargoes to rural areas in Africa is usually affected by barriers such as land isolation, lack of secure storage and warehouse facilities and other infrastructural issues.
